We know we have a lot of fans of Sony's PS2-era platformers here on Push Square, so here's a game you might want to keep on your radar: Duskfade.
Coming to PS5 in 2026, it's a 3D action platformer adventure that looks like it studied in the school of noughties platformers like Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter.
You play as Zirian, a young boy who, alongside his companion Cuckoo, is on a mission to rescue his sister from a clock tower that has mysteriously caused eternal night to descend on the world.
What ensues looks to be lots of running, jumping, rail grinding, grapple-hooking, and thwacking enemies with basic melee combat.
The game has a stylised, colourful look that recalls those older platformers too, so it really does seem to be shooting for that vibe in particular.
There's no firm date for this one yet, but if you're into those PS2 platformers, we reckon this will be worth a go. Are you interested in Duskfade? Let us know in the comments section below.

This looks delightful!
Very interested in seeing more.
This looks great
I'm gonna need a priority wishlist for my wishlist at this rate.
This is great, first game I have seen in a long time that I will actually buy! Only game I bought in 2025 was E33
It's only a video, but if it delivers in how good it looks I'm in. Fingers crossed it plays well.
It's looks not bad, but probably wait on reviews, to see price/length, as a lot of games in the last year have only been 15-20 hours long and charge full price
Might sound harsh but the main character has this art style that I've come to associate with ads for mobile games.
Game looks impressive! Animation is lacking just that next step of polish that could really make it sing. Main character seems a pretty generic and the voice over makes me wonder about the script. But if it delivers in gameplay cool!
Everything looks shiny and colorful.
Will keep an eye on this one, but mimicking the look isn't the same as getting the gameplay right. I've played a lot of 3D platformer over the years trying to feed a proper sequel to Jak and Daxtor but so far they've all fallen short. Donkey Kong Bananza was pretty close. I'm hoping Nintendo can really pull it off with the Splatoon spinoff. Fingers crossed for this one too.🤞
Edit: Watched the trailer, mood seemed like Hat in Time, but I'm still digging it. Almost seemed more action adventure than platformer, thought I saw a Spyro boss fight in there, maybe a little Medieval as well. If they can execute a game from this trailer who knows, they could have a hit on their hands.
Just looking at the thumbnail alone leads me to believe I’m gonna love this!
It looks very derivative, every idea they show in the trailer looks like it's been done before. Not that this necessarily matters, what is important is if they can pull all those ideas together in a fun satisfying way and adding their own something to make it stand apart. Could still be good. Fingers crossed.
His weapon looks suspiciously like a Keyblade 😁
Hope this turns out well as I’m after something to scratch my sly cooper itch.
The game has that ps2 feel to it and I have no problem with that
No info about the devs?
Oh yeah this that Ratchet & Clank / Kingdom Hearts inspired game
Duskfade look good more games is always bell.word up son
Good for you for having a comments section. Well done
As a fan od those games and hates other Indies. This game has the personality but not the gameplay of those games.
These are just in joke fan games in the end.
Not everything has to be cqlculatoe yo game and watch/gaedening to Pikmin but even still. I respect tofu/blocks to splatoon.
Western Indies (no idea about other regions) are too referential and I'm sick of it. Have a brain and come up woth your own ideas to sell your game not be manipulative idiots).
The only benefit of these games is they finally made it a product and learning skills for them. Otherwise they contribute nothing but a further in joke.
I would rather play as a bar of sosp rhat stretches. Aka a bland character with good movesets then a welcoming character thats bland to play as.
I know of it and like the other Indies hate it.
They also miss the scale/skill level of those teams with tons of experimentation.
No Indies will or can (they don't need to) but still.
I didn't care fot Akimbot either.
I don't buy for inspiration or personality. So no purchase from me. But Indies keep doing it.
I had more fun playing Rango movie game with better grind rails then Ratchet (same with Haven Call of the King or Scaler), decent gun use.
Ratchet had many experiments to a cinematic story it wants to tell nowadays.
Indies try but they feel empty or try in personality but miss the mark. Even in their own original odeas aka they aren't strong ideas yet and need more. Too referential still.
Their skill levels make sense or modern gaming design it fits how empty they are (or oh characters/world before level design/movesets, platformers are a joke these daye) but I just don't see the appeal in these Indies when I have researched or played more mechaniccally engsging but yes dated AAs for PS1/N64 or PS2 gen consoles.
When the gems are better then Indies it says a lot.
So yes I know about this game but like every Indie I get disappointed at how bland in gameplay ideas they are. So I refuse to buy them.
Valeintines platformer (coming soon to PS) wasn't much but I respected it. Most others target characters and references/nostalgia and utter garbage, but I find rhem cheap, too inspired and boring.
I don't buy a platformer to be referenced/emotional or nostalgic you idiots, I want to I buy one for what rhe genre was good at. Creative animal/human/object characters and movesets. None of that is here anymore. Its pathetic. Gameplay is dead for welcoming charming illusionary garbage.
Lastly I checked a genre is named after gameplay dynamics, not a vibe/style.
Remember even cinematic platformers existed.
These aren't meeting that just cute characters and whatever worlds. Bland.
Not a Mario fan but when I look over I go wow, he is a human in a fantasy wprld with different movesets and pther Indies are pathetic in cr3ativity, too injoke like and dull.
All Mario universe charactere have completely different movesets.
Idnies are too inspired and have no original ideas at all. They suck. They can't bend anything.
Despite thr 'character' of them as good enough and fair depth.
Nowadays platformers, they are a joke.
Inspired by in the wrong wqys for me perosnally. I don't care for these.
we need more games like this reminiscent of the 2000s!
